SUBTLE TATTOOS

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I've wanted to get a tattoo for years but obviously I haven't been able to because I haven't been old enough and stuff, but now I am approaching 18 (JUST UNDER THREE MONTHS! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD), and know that I definitely want to get one! I'm thinking of getting something on my wrist, forearm and on the ribs/back. Everyone says "get something meaningful or you'll regret it" and shit, but to be honest I can't think of anything meaningful to get tattooed. I just want small subtle tattoos that are a bit random but at the same time not too out there and extravagant. Something like Anja Konstantinova's tattoos above is what I have in mind! Was thinking of an outline of a triangle, pizza slice and a feather. Random and meaningless but I couldn't care less.. for now. Do you guys have tattoos, and are they as painful as people say they are? Opinions? xo

  2. I don't have any tattoos, only because I wouldn't know what to get. I love looking at other people's tattoos though. That 'float' tattoo in the first photo is beautiful.

In certain areas it is a comfortable pain, it only really hurt when it was over a main vein. I say go for it. I believe that if you want or believe in something now, you should never regret it because it is a decision you once really believed in. I would suggest looking through a tattoo book or a tattoo website like this - http://rodeo.net/tattoologist/ because with mine, I wanted a tattoo for ages but couldn't decide what. I saw my tattoo in a book and was like "That's the one!"
    Good luck!

  10. I've got a tat on my foot on my 18th :) it was painful, I'm not gonna lie but the bonier parts of the body are apparently the most painful (foot, ribs, neck etc.) I'm defo going to get another though!

  11. i've thought about it so many times and never actually got one. and then, some months later i was always happy about not getting one... maybe it's just me but the things i like change very rapidly, so unless t's something that means a lot to me i won't get a tattoo... but the giraffe on that girl is a-m-a-z-i-n-g :)//dariadaria

  12. i've got one on my arm, it's just the word 'glorious'. it didn't hurt, i loved the feeling actually, tingly and stuff. be sure not to drink much before hand coz my friend did, and while getting inked on her wrist, it bled (something about alcohol in the system?) anyway, DO IT! mine is personal, i love the word and the feelings it brings to my mind when i think of it, and people expect some huge meaningful explanation behind it (but i don't like to explain why i got it to them). i want random stuff too!! but, it'll look like i've been attacked by a texta haha have fun :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I am going to get my first one really soon!! All I know is that pain is different and it depends from where on your body you get inked and how much you can resist the needle... about what to get tattooed I will suggest u to talk about with friends, family just because saying out loud may help u clearing your mind!

  17. I have a tattoo on my wrist and it was tolerable until they went over the nerve in the middle of my wrist.. but thankfully they didn't have to go over it too many times! it wont stop me from getting another one though!

    ReplyDelete
  18. there is something so nice about knowing you have some personal ink. It doesn't matter if it's meaningful or not..once you have it, it is a part of you and if you are anything like me you will get a little excited each time you look down(or up/behind you etc) in the shower and remember its presence :)
As for Anja Konstantinova's...I had the pleasure of working with her a few months ago on a swimwear shoot and hers are absolutely just as stunning in real life :) <3

  20. I got three little flowers on my foot when I turned 18, I went to a pretty crappy artist so they aren't great and if I was to get it done again now I probably would go somewhere different. I didn't understand the talent levels of artists at the time. I don't regret it though, it was my first and definitely an experience. I don't think it hurt as much as most people say (and feet are meant to be the worst pain) but I do tend to have a high pain threshold.
Just do your research and go for something small and discreet for your first, as with everything it's a learning curve :)
    Hope that's helped!

  21. I love Freja's tattoos, if I ever get one it will probably be something of that sort, small and subtly, and most likely a word or short phrase written in cursive. she has one that says "this too shall pass" and it's like universally valid, for happiness and sadness and boredom and mostly any human state.

    love the blog, following!

  44. I have three tattoos & all three have meaning to me. I think everyone's different on whether to get meaningful heartfelt tattoos or just stuff that looks good. That's the most important thing. Because if you get something weird like a strawberry, if it's done well, everytime you see it it'll make you smile. I wouldn't get too caught up in the whole meaning thing though, the pizza idea is awesome.

& don't worry about the pain! It's like a chicken scratch & it goes away, & besides it's like a day of pain (max) for a lifetime with a lovely thing on your body. If you have any questions let me know, my bf's a tattooist :)

  47. The matryoshka tattoo in the second image is adorable! I have the same view on tats as you, they don't need to have meaning if they look good. I'm getting a graphics friend of mine to design a cascade of feathers to tattoo down my forearm.

  50. My preference: minimal and something with meaning. Ie, my family and I have always interchanged "te amo" with each other. I'd tattoo it somewhere quiet, like a small print on my wrist or somewhere that won't wrinkle terribly and become incoherent as I grow older.

  51. I dont have any tattoos, but I want one (or more) for sure! I love a skull with a heart and wings for design! Good luck to you with finding a great design ;)

  54. My gooddd I know what you mean. Freja's tattoos are very inspiring and I love the places she's got them in. I've wanted either a short french quote underneath the top part of my arm or just a little outline of a heart either there or on my side. I just love it when they're subtle. And shows you've got a bit of an edge to you without looking realllyyy scary haha. Thank you for your comment. Love your style!

  61. sorry for the distracting typo. i have a tattoo on my shoulder. it didn't hurt that much. when i was 17, my aunt told me to wait a year, & see if i still wanted the tattoo. she said it will be on your body forever so, make sure you think it through. yrs. later, i finally got one. it was different than i would've originally chosen, but around the same theme. mine happens to be very meaningful.
i hope that answers your questions. :)

  64. I have two which I've had for absolutely years, one means something, the other is slightly more random... & that's the one I'm thinking of changing! They do hurt but it tends to depend whereabouts you get them done.

If you're thinking of getting a random one then pick/draw a design & then sit on it for at least six months, then reconsider it. If you still want that design... go for it!

  68. Anja is gorg, and i absolutely love her giraffe and doll.
but i would really recommend somewhat thinking about what your gonna get on your skin. just make sure it has some sort of personal connection to yourself and your personality, and you're good to go! :)
